DCSD Junior High String Festival Makes Sweet Music At Davenport West

The DCSD Junior High String Festival was hosted at the West High School Auditorium on Saturday, October 14th. 100 seventh and eighth grade students from our five junior high schools rehearsed for four hours with guest clinician, Dr. Kevin Price-Brenner, from Dubuque Hempstead High School. Davenport Central Girls Swimming Place Second In Regional Meet

The Davenport Central High School girls swim team had another phenomenal meet this past Saturday! The Blue Devils came in second place in the regional meet! They won eight events and set four school records all together. Congratulations to Hannah Cousins, Isabel Heller, Simone Green, and Gabbie Hanson for ranking first place in the 200-yard medley relay. After the meet, Mary Selden was named regional athlete of the year and Brian Heller was named regional coach of the year. Way to go, Blue Devils!  Read More

For nearly two decades, the Genesis Hospice Remembrance Tree-lighting has been a community tradition to usher in the holiday season and celebrate the memories of loved ones who have passed. The tree-lighting also illuminates the continuing need for access to quality hospice in the region. This year’s tree-lighting will be Monday, November 6 at 6 p.m. outside the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, 2546 Tech Drive, Bettendorf. Parking will be available at 2535 Maplecrest Road, adjacent to the hospice house. Davenport Central Teens Head To Iowa State For FCCLA Competition

Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) members represented Davenport Central yesterday at the Fall Rally held on the ISU campus. Olivia Mason made a plant-based, vegan-inspired grilled cheese sandwich while Alexis Downing created a Culinary Pathway poster to recruit DC students. Calee Jaques placed first in the FCS Photography category and Emma Gullickson placed third in the Shoes for a Cause Contest. Maya Gibson brought home first place in the Shoes for a Cause, as well, and placed second in the Deviled Egg Challenge. Congratulations!  Read More

The finishing touches are underway on Davenport’s Veterans Memorial Park for Thursday’s dedication ceremony. Davenport West High School Art teacher, David Schaeffer, painted a 40-foot mural honoring America’s veterans that will be on display in the park.
