Smart Lexus of Quad Cities Donates 2-Year Lease to a Lucky Winner, Birdies For Charity Raises Over $12 Million

Despite the PGA Tour 2020 John Deere Classic being canceled this summer due to Covid concerns, it helped raise $12.22 million for 465 local and regional charities, through the annual Birdies for Charity program. Tournament officials Friday also announced that each participating charity will receive a 5-percent bonus in addition to the money raised through the Birdies for Charity program. This year, because of Covid-19 protocols, all checks will be mailed to participating charities. Black Sheep Closing In Downtown Rock Island, May Reopen in Davenport

A second large bar in downtown Rock Island is closing its doors. Just weeks after Billy Bob’s shut down, The Black Sheep Pub is closing. Owner Shawn Cirlos posted on social media that he’d been losing $30,000 a month due to covid and the city’s 1 a.m.curfew for bars in the downtown. Cirlos added that he’ll be relocating his employees to his businesses in Davenport and is considering a potential opening for The Black Sheep at a new location across the river. Whitey’s Ice Cream’s Locust Street location in Davenport will be temporarily closing due to a positive covid test by one of their employees. Whitey’s issued the following statement today on social media: Unfortunately we just had an employee test positive for COVID-19 at our Locust Street location in Davenport. We have temporarily shut down the store and are going to open again tomorrow (Friday, October 30) at 10:00 a.m. and will be deep cleaning the store and contact-tracing to determine which employees need to be tested.
