‘Rent’ Tickets Available For Adler Show

The Adler Theatre has announced that limited seating in the first four rows of the orchestra section will be available for $20 for the performance of RENT, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning musical. The $20 ticket does not include a $3.00 facility fee. Tickets are available for in-person purchases at the Adler Theatre Box Office (136 E. 3rd St.) on the day of the performance only, two hours prior to the show. In 1999 the Quad-City Playwrights Festival was created to inspire and showcase the work of budding high school writers. In 2005, it expanded to include writers from throughout the community. Each year, playwrights submit 10-minute original plays to an adjudication committee. Selected plays are given to a director and a cast of all Augustana College students to present a staged reading of the work. Junior Theater Looking To Raise $10,000 By May

After 36 years, Davenport Junior Theatre’s Mary Fluhrer-Nighswander Theatre is on course for key renovations this September. Over the last six weeks, the non-profit Junior Theatre Inc has been attempting to raise $40,000 by the end of April 30. The goal is now within site. “We have 10 days left to raise $10,000,” said DJT’s Board President and alum, Kristin Meyer. “Our outreach to the public began in mid-March. The Quad City Playwrights’ Festival is quickly approaching and submissions are being accepted now. Selected works will be presented in a staged reading in the Honkamp Black Box Theatre in the Brunner Theatre Center on May 13, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. The festival is currently calling for submissions. Submission requirements: original work, 10-minute script with a maximum of 10 pages, authored by one individual who resides in the Quad-Cities area or is an Augustana student or alum, no adaptions and no excerpt script from larger works.
