Davenport Junior Theatre Opens Free “Robin Hood” Outdoors Friday, June 11

Davenport Junior Theatre (DJT) will conclude its 69th season of theater “for kids, by kids” with their first in-person production in 15 months: the premiere of Aaron Randolph III’s “The True Tale of Robin Hood,” opening Friday. Written by local playwright Randolph and directed by Zach Meyer, this swashbuckling production will be held outside on the Great Lawn of the Annie Wittenmyer Complex, 2822 Eastern Ave., Davenport, and will be FREE for all to attend. Junior Theater Looking To Raise $10,000 By May

After 36 years, Davenport Junior Theatre’s Mary Fluhrer-Nighswander Theatre is on course for key renovations this September. Over the last six weeks, the non-profit Junior Theatre Inc has been attempting to raise $40,000 by the end of April 30. The goal is now within site. “We have 10 days left to raise $10,000,” said DJT’s Board President and alum, Kristin Meyer. “Our outreach to the public began in mid-March. After 36 years, Davenport Junior Theatre’s Mary Fluhrer-Nighswander Theatre once again seeks key renovations. “We are replacing the theatre seating, installing new carpet, repainting the interior, repairing subflooring and more,” said DJT’s Artistic Director and alum, Daniel Sheridan. “We’ve made great use of this space over the last few decades.
