The Bix Jazz Society is excited to announce they are hosting a VIRTUAL JAZZ FEST on Friday Jul 31 and Saturday Aug 1. This virtual concert is free to anyone who wishes to experience 1920’s-30’s Jazz. Covid-19 may be separating us, through Bix, Jazz and Technology we will unite! The 49th annual Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Festival will feature six fantastic bands from Denver to Chicago. The Figge’s Big Picture program returned this summer, in a different format. For the past 3 weeks, virtual free programming has been streaming live from the museum on Wednesday mornings from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. via Zoom. The program will continue through Aug 5. Get the kids out for a day of fun and fishing this weekend! Credit Island Bait Shop is hosting a Fishing Tournament this Sunday Jul 26 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Credit Island Boat Ramp. This free-entry tournament will be broken up into two age groups, 12 and under and 13 and over. Prizes will be given for the biggest Bluegill, Carp, Perch and Catfish caught. Since 1975, the Quad-City Times Bix 7 has been a Midwest summer tradition, bringing thousands of runners from across the globe to Run With the Best. Though Illinois allowed indoor museums to reopen June 26, the Covid-19 pandemic still rages across the nation. Museums, historic homes and gardens in the Quad-Cities have taken differing approaches to reopening. As of that Friday in late June, with phase 4 of Illinois’ reopening implemented, very few museums on the Illinois side of the Mississippi River were open to the public.
