Martin Luther King Center, 630 9th St., Rock Island, is hosting a Thanksgiving dinner. Enjoy a delicious, free Thanksgiving meal. All are welcome! Thanksgiving at the King Center will be a bit different this year. We will provide delivery and curb-side pickup for three days (November 20-22). There will be no dine-in service this year. The Huntington’s Disease Society of America’s (HDSA) Iowa Chapter is hosting the Iowa City Virtual Team Hope Walk on Saturday, November 14. A virtual walk is a real walk, but on your terms: You get to choose your own course, you can walk in your driveway, local park, neighborhood, in your house, and even on treadmill. The Western Illinois University Food Pantry will continue implementing the appointment-only system through the remainder of in-person classes on campus, through Wednesday, Nov.18. The Pantry is now located in Horrabin Hall, room 10. The appointment form, located here will be re-used every week to fill out an appointment time. There will not be a weekly form. An appointment must be made to visit the WIU Food Pantry. Patrons are asked to fill this form out in advance of Thursdays or Saturdays. Despite the Covid crisis, the Downtown Davenport Partnership (DDP) — an affiliate of the Quad Cities Chamber – has been very busy for the past eight months. The result of all that work was presented Tuesday afternoon, as DDP executive director Kyle Carter unveiled a new strategic master plan to the Davenport City Council during a public work session. The 110-page plan (led by a New York-based consulting firm) will be added to upcoming city council agendas for further public input, and a vote to accept the final version is expected by December.
