Bettendorf Public Library’s mystery book group to dive into an international intrigue

On Saturday, October 9th, the Bettendorf Public Library’s Mystery Book Discussion book will explore an international novel of crime and secrecy with its discussion of Dark Echoes of the Past by Ramon Diaz Eterovic. Set in Chile, the book involves a deep seeded mystery surrounding a death with a case closed too soon. The Mystery Book Discussion Group, which is always seeking new members, meets on the second Saturday of each month from September through May. Quad City Storm Add Dylan Fournier To The Team

Head coach Dave Pszenyczny has added more AHL experience to the Storm roster with the signing of Dylan Fournier to a training camp contract. Fournier most recently played for the Indy Fuel of the ECHL during the 2016-2017 season and previously rostered with the AHL’s Rockford Icehogs. A native of Montreal, Fournier has local ties as the head coach of the Quad City Blues high school hockey team. Fournier will maintain his role as Blues head coach while playing with the Storm for the 2021-2022 season.  Read More

A greater portion of people in Scott County have been fully vaccinated than Rock Island County -- 58% compared to 50%.

Illinois schoolchildren ages 5-11 could be able to get the covid vaccine before the end of the year if the vaccine is approved as expected, according to reports. Pfizer and its German partner BioNtech have made a formal request to the Food and Drug Administration to extend emergency use of their COVID-19 vaccine in children ages 5 to 11. The two-dose vaccine is already authorized for children aged 12 to 15 and fully approved for ages 16 and up.
