The Bettendorf Public Library’s music listening event series, Trax from the Stax, is offering an inside look at the creation of film score on November 11th at 7:00 PM. Davenport musician Neal Smith, who has recently composed, arranged, performed, and recorded a score of the film “The Land Beyond the Sunset,” will be presenting the program. Local educators Julie Eisenband and Chris Strunk noticed a problem when it came to the representation of immigrant and refugee students in their classrooms. While these students were a strong presence in Eisenband’s courses at United Township High School in East Moline, one of the state’s most diverse high schools, they were few and far between in Strunk’s at Augustana College.
