MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – Because of the successful efforts of, and new initiatives put into place by, the Western Illinois University Office of Retention Initiatives to ensure student success, WIU recently received EdSights’ Inaugural PERSIST Excellence in Execution Award. Quad City Storm Are Saluting The Military With Paint The Ice Day

The Quad City Storm hosts its fourth annual Salute to Military Ice Painting presented by QCA Pools and Spas Monday November 7th from 9AM-7PM. Quad Citizens are invited to Vibrant Arena at the MARK to paint the names of loved ones who serve or have served in the United States Armed Forces on the ice. The names will remain on the ice for the games next Thursday and Friday. The event is free and open to the public. MOLINE, IL – – The Western Illinois University- Quad Cities Veterans Resource Center will host a Veterans Animal Shelter Donation Drive Tuesday, Nov. 1-Wednesday, Nov. 10 in the Quad Cities Complex C Atrium. The Quad City Storm secured four of six possible points over the weekend and now holds sole possession of first place in the SPHL for the first time in franchise history. Friday the Storm notched its first road victory of the season with a 5-1 defeat of the Vermillion County Bobcats. Five different Storm players tallied goals in the effort and netminder Kevin Resop stopped 29 of the 30 shots he faced. Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) will join Peoria, Rockford and Eagle View healthcare leaders to announce funding for local health projects. The funding was awarded through a program made possible by Fiscal Year 2022 Federal Appropriations secured by Congresswoman Bustos and formed based on her Social Determinants of Health Accelerator Act. In 2020, Congresswoman Bustos secured a first-of-its-kind pilot program, modeled after her Social Determinants of Health Accelerator Act, as part of a year-end spending bill. Members of the Western Illinois University chapter of the International Honor Society Phi Beta Delta will host “A Taste of Spain,” international scholarship fundraiser, beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Campus Students for Christ House, located at 1545 Riverview Drive.
