Last Weekend To Help Bettendorf Rotary Collect 800 Blankets For People In Need

Bettendorf Rotary members are determined to reach their goal of 800 blankets for their Acre of Warmth promotion! The event will end on Monday, November 1 and they still need 200 blankets to cover an acre. One couple from Davenport, Nancy and Neil Russell, made 95 hand-made quilts to donate to the drive. This weekend the Storm plays host to the Vermillion County Bobcats Friday and Saturday at the TaxSlayer Center. Friday is Trick or Treat on the Ice Night presented by iHeart Media and the puck will drop an hour early at 6:10. Kids are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes to the games and will be allowed to come down on to the ice postgame to trick or treat with Storm players. Western Illinois University will honor members of the armed forces, along with two of its own fallen soldiers, Capt. Derek Dobogai and Lt. Col. Robert Baldwin, Saturday, Oct. 30 as part of the 10th annual Fallen Soldiers 5K Run/Walk. The event will begin with a ceremony at 8:30 a.m. at Hanson Field, with the race beginning at 9 a.m. in front of Western Hall on University Drive.
