Spring Beaux Arts Fair Returns to Davenport Fairgrounds This Weekend

The 68th bi-annual Beaux Arts Fair returns to the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, 2815 W. Locust St., Davenport, on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fair is free to the public and is held rain or shine each May and September. The Beaux Arts Fund Committee, a non-profit group of volunteers, donates all proceeds to the Figge Art Museum to fund exhibitions and educational programs. No commissions will be charged. On exhibit from May 5 through June 18, will be “iNundaATIONs,” paintings by Peter Xiao and “Immigrants,” mixed media sculptures by Ioan Marcu. (Notice the word NATION in inundation.) The newest Quad City Arts’ Art at the Airport exhibit is all in the family — paintings by Kristin Quinn of Davenport, with ceramic creations by her sister, Megan Quinn, of Rock Island, on display through June 30. Megan Quinn is a professor at Augustana College in Rock Island, while Kristin Quinn is a professor at St. Ambrose University in Davenport. Megan is a ceramic artist, and Kristin is a painter. Figge Art Museum Awards Four $12,000 Scholarships to Quad-Cities Students

The Figge Art Museum, Davenport, has announced the 2021 recipients of the prestigious $12,000 Brand Boeshaar scholarships. These scholarships are awarded to students who wish to earn a degree in fine arts, graphic design, architecture or art education at a college or university. Davenport resident Lillian L. Brand established the Brand Boeshaar Scholarship in memory of her nephew, William Brand Boeshaar, an art student who attended St. Ambrose University.
