“Golden Light” Is The Theme of A New Bettendorf Art Exhibit At Bereskin Gallery

BETTENDORF – Pat Bereskin, owner of Beréskin Gallery & Art Academy, knows that art has the ability to take us away to a different place and transform our mood. She has built the next exhibition at her gallery around the theme of “Golden Light: Summer of New Beginnings.” It’s on display now, through Aug. 26 at the gallery at 2967 State St., Bettendorf. Art in the Garden is August 7 at the Quad City Botanical Center in Rock Island, Illinois. The 5th annual event features local and regional artists including potters, painters, sculptors, jewelry makers and others who are inspired by nature to create. The Figge Art Museum (225 W. 2nd St., Davenport) is opening a new exhibit Saturday, Jan. 16, in the second-floor Lewis Gallery. Blakelock: By the Light of the Moon, will feature eight extraordinary pieces of American art — some of which have not been on display in more than two decades. The Art Legacy League (ALL) has found a new home on the Davenport riverfront and will hold a two-hour open house on Friday, Nov. 20. Founded in 2012, the nonprofit ALL is dedicated to the memory of Father Edward Catich and his contributions to the calligraphic arts, history of writing, and his long legacy of teaching. Father Catich (1906-1979) was an internationally renowned artist, calligrapher and visionary instructor who founded the St. Ambrose University Art Department. The ALL moved from J.B. New Cambridge Art Gallery a Light After Much Darkness

After so many shutdowns, economic devastation, and death caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, there’s something new and life-affirming opening in the Quad-Cities art scene. The Excelsior Studio and Galleria – owned by self-employed artist Melody Sloat, and her husband Jacob – will open Friday in a former antique shop at 13013 N. 700th Ave. (Route 19), in Cambridge, Ill., 40 minutes southeast of Moline. The couple bought the historic building, and did much clearing, repairs and renovations in preparation to open.
