The West Davenport Arts Council, in conjunction with Metropolitan Community Church of the Quad Cities (MCC QC), is hosting an art exhibition for local artist Jen Hansen on the evening of Wednesday, June 30th, from 6-8 PM. Light refreshments will be served. Jen’s art is currently on display at MCC QC, located at 2930 Locust St. in Davenport, through the end of July. Jen is an outsider artist who found their calling while taking a class to teach therapeutic art. Fifty-six years ago, Jordan D. Schnitzer bought his first artwork from his mother’s contemporary art gallery in Portland, Ore. The newest Quad City Arts’ Art at the Airport exhibit is all in the family — paintings by Kristin Quinn of Davenport, with ceramic creations by her sister, Megan Quinn, of Rock Island, on display through June 30. Megan Quinn is a professor at Augustana College in Rock Island, while Kristin Quinn is a professor at St. Ambrose University in Davenport. Megan is a ceramic artist, and Kristin is a painter. If you’re at the Food Truck Fight on LeClaire’s levee tonight, or the Saturday Farmers Market at the Davenport Freight House, there’s a good chance you’ll see a bright blue and green newcomer. Buddy Bison – a big, colorful fiberglass statue – was painted this week by 28-year-old Moline artist Atlanta Dawn, to help promote the ambitious Bison Bridge project, to repurpose the existing I-80 bridge.
