Halloween is creeping up and will be here before you know it. So why not start getting into the spirit now?

Colonel Davenport Historical Foundation will be celebrating all that is spooky, with “Ghost Tales” this Saturday Sep 28 from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m., with scary stories told by local storytellers on the grounds of the Colonel Davenport House on Arsenal Island (Davenport Avenue Rock Island).Get Spooked With Ghost Tales

Admission for this event is $6 for adults, $4 for seniors and free for children 12 and younger and active military.

The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with guided tours through the Colonel Davenport House. You will have an opportunity to witness one of the Quad Cities’ most historical homes, built in 1833 and once owned by Colonel George Davenport.

“Ghost Tales” will begin at 7 p.m., which will include a reading from Mark McLaughlin, co-author of newest book Ghosts of the Quad Cities. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the spooky stories with an even spookier ambience. There will also be refreshments for sale throughout the evening.

Attendees 16 years old and older must show a U.S. Photo ID to gain access to the Island. For more information, please visit www.davenporthouse.org.
