Atomic Coffee Bar, known for their signature energy drinks, friendly drive-thru customer service, and long lines due to popular demand, is opening up a new location at the old Checker’s spot on John Deere Road in Rock Island. The Quad Cities Chamber on Monday presented a progress report to Rock Island City Council on efforts to explore the creation of a new public-private place management organization supported by sustainable funding to deliver special services that enhance public spaces, encourage investment and improve overall quality of life in Downtown Rock Island. Each year, people in the community have an opportunity to submit a nomination for Rock Island residents who have made selfless contributions of service to the community. The Quad City Botanical Center is allowing guests to pay what they can for admission to the gardens September 12-18. Eliminating financial barriers to entry makes the gardens accessible to all regardless of the ability to pay the general admission fee. The public is welcome to visit Sunday 11AM-5PM and 10AM-5PM Monday through Saturday. Standard general admission is $7 for adults 16 and older, $4 for youth ages 2-15 and toddlers under age two receive free admission. Members always get in free.
