After a three year hiatus, Lowland Block Party returns for its fourth edition 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3 at the Laborspace, 311 21st St., Rock Island. Organizer Jon Burns posted the following about the event: We’ve carved out a nice lil block over the last decade on the east-side of the downtown, which we’ve self-identified as the Lowland area. Local Artist Jon Burns Donating Proceeds From Art Sales To Black Lives Matter

One of my favorite local artists, Jon Burns, will be helping out the Black Lives Matter movement by donating 50 percent of proceeds from sales of his artwork in his current gallery to the movement. Pieces will be marked as sold when paid for and can be picked up by appointment at my living room window in downtown Moline. The Quad Cities Icons Series is a collection of paintings by local artist Jon Burns celebrating people of fame and notable achievement who were raised in, grew up around or spent significant time in the Quad-Cities. A showing of the various artworks will take place at Rock Island’s DeSoto Gallery through August. Jesse Johnson is a Rock Island native who collaborated with Prince and played guitar in Morris Day & The Time as well as D’angelo’s band The Vanguard.
