Walk Kicks Off National Autism Awareness MonthAccording to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1 in 68 children (1 in 42 boys and 1 in 189 girls) are identified as having Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).  April is National Autism Awareness Month and is an excellent opportunity to promote autism awareness, autism acceptance and to draw attention to the tens of thousands facing an autism diagnoses every year.

To kick off National Autism Awareness Month, the Autism Society of the Quad Cities is holding their 2017 Autism Awareness Walk on Saturday, April 1 at the Pepsico Center (1025 30th St Rock Island) at Augustana College. Online registration will be open until the day of the event at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2017-asqc-autism-awareness-walk-tickets-31700835051?aff=aff0eventful. Registration will also be available when the doors open the morning of the walk.

Doors open at 8am and the walk is scheduled to start at 9am indoors at the Pepsico Center track. There will also be activities for children, a sensory friendly disc jockey, refreshments and more! Persons with autism, their family members and friends, and members of the community are all invited to attend this event. Come out on and walk for a great cause!
