Q-C Vintage Football Kicks Off At HaubergAre you ready for some football? How about some vintage football?

This Sunday, Oct 15 the Vintage American Football league is hosting their 3rd Annual Quad Cities’ Vintage Football Game at Hauberg Estates (1300 24th St Rock Island) at 3 p.m. with the Rock Island Independents versus Moline Universal Tractors.

Step back in time to when the Rock Island Independents played their very first game, on Sep 26, 1920.  Watch these tough (un-padded) football players use a real vintage Melon football. The plays and rules will be very similar to how they were back in simpler times. Thankfully, some modern rules will be applied to ensure the safety of players.

Bring a blanket and chairs to enjoy the game out on the front lawn of the historic Hauberg Estates, just as spectators would have in the 1920’s. Happy Joe’s Pizza, Bent River Brewing and Hy-Vee Rock Island will be on-site to provide refreshments.

To keep the ambience as accurate as possible, there will also be some 1920’s automobiles for your viewing pleasure, a 1920’s jazz band and of course, a 1920 Moline Universal Tractor. There are no admission charges for this family-friendly event. Games will be available for the kids out front.
