Project NOW Providing Update On Lift NOW Community Center On Friday
Project NOW’s Executive Director, Dwight Ford, will provide a community update on our “Lift NOW Center”—the emergency overnight shelter we opened in January (418 19th Street Rock Island) on Friday. Ford will provide numbers of those served, the communities served, as well as some success stories.
There are 37 beds available for unhoused individuals and families to sleep at Project NOW’s former headquarters. The regular winter hours are daily from 9 pm to 7 am. The shelter will run until April 15, 2025. Project NOW, with the guidance of Christian Care, opened the shelter once it was determined there would not be an overflow emergency overnight shelter in Davenport.
Project NOW is partnering with Christian Care who provides breakfasts and showers. On any given night, the Quad-Cities has around 500 unhoused individuals.
