As a fire-and-brimstone preacher delivered a fiery oratory about comics fans courting hell and the devil on one floor of Davenport’s Hotel Davenport and Conference Center Sunday afternoon, far more pleasant and happy people chatted about other fantastic scenarios on the floor below as the annual Q-C Fun Con drew several hundred people to the venue for a great time. Kids can try their hand at all sorts of science and engineering projects with the Rock Island Public Library’s monthly STEM-Azing after-school events. The next session, on Wednesday, Sept. 14, will feature experiments using wind power.  STEM-AZING is offered from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm on the second Wednesday of each month at the 30/31 Branch, 3059 30th Street.
