christmas-carolQuad City Music Guild is holding auditions for its rendition of the holiday classic “A Christmas Carol” from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18 at Prospect Park Auditorium, 1584 34th Ave., Moline.

Dates for the show are Dec. 1-4.

Broadway heavy hitters, Alan Menken (Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Little Shop of Horrors) and Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Seussical, Once on This Island), have breathed fantastic new life into this classic tale of “A Christmas Carol.”

Ebenezer Scrooge is a prosperous curmudgeon who believes that personal wealth is far more valuable than the happiness and comfort of others. With an infuriated “Bah! Humbug!” Scrooge summates his feelings of Christmas tidings and charitable giving, but he’s forced to face his selfish ways when three ghosts on Christmas Eve lead him through his Past, Present and Future. Thanks to their guidance, Scrooge recognizes his faults and greets Christmas morning with a cheerful

“Happy Christmas” before spending the day reconnecting and sharing love with those that mean the most to him.

Performers should come prepared with 16-32 bars of a musical song that best showcases your voice.  An accompanist will be provided, so have your music clearly marked for any cuts, tempos, changes, etc.  No recorded music will be accepted.  There will also be a small dance combination taught that you will be asked to perform for the directing staff.  You may also be asked to perform a cold reading from sides from the show.
