Looking for something for the kids to do over fall break? The Rock Island Public Library will host a variety of programs to keep children and teens occupied and learning during the Rock Island/Milan District school break, Oct. 11 to Oct. 21. The week kicks off with a special all-ages Pokemon Go Night on Tuesday, Oct. 11,at the Rock Island 30/31 Branch. The Rock Island Library will host a special after-hours event this September that will probably be a blast from the past for children of the 1980s and 90s. The Lisa Frank Palooza on Friday, Sept. 23 will offer coloring, crafts, and nostalgic activities based on the vibrant designs made famous by Arizona artist Lisa Frank. Rock Island Public Library Hosts STEMazing Science and Engineering Projects For Kids

Kids can try their hand at all sorts of science and engineering projects with the Rock Island Public Library’s monthly STEM-Azing after-school events. The next session, on Wednesday, Sept. 14, will feature experiments using wind power.  STEM-AZING is offered from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm on the second Wednesday of each month at the 30/31 Branch, 3059 30th Street. It’s three times the fun for parents and toddlers, now that Rock Island Library has expanded Play and Grow early learning time from one to three events per month. A teen gaming night on Thursday, August 25 will allow teens to play Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360 and board games and to learn how to make their video games with Scratch programming. Free Kids Filmmaking Workshop Set For German Heritage Center

A free Kids Short Filmmaking Workshop will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, August 20 at the German American Heritage Center, 712 W 2nd Street, Davenport. Local filmmaker Harry Walker will instruct kids in grades 4-8 how to use readily available technology to create a short film! Teens can experience the art of anime, play video and board games with other teens, and explore various paths to take after high school with August events for ages 12 to 18 at the Rock Island Public Library. In one of the night cap games for day two of the thirteen year old Ottumwa Babe Ruth World Series, Pearl City(HI) took on Davenport(IA). Pearl City jumped out early and cruised to a five inning 11-0 win over Davenport. Things were all Pearl City’s way in the first. Jayton Pang started with a double, Kelena Sauer then singled.
