Summer reading and events at the Rock Island Public Library continue June 7 through 12 with free events for children, teens, and adults, including take-home kits for kids, a non-fiction book club for adults, and Summer2Go activities around library bookmobile stops. Children and Family Events this week: Children’s Bead Kit, available starting Monday, June 7 at Downtown, Southwest, and Mobile Libraries while supplies last. The Bettendorf Public Library’s Trax in the Stax program is returning to in-person programming on Thursday, September 23rd at 7:00 PM. The unique music listening event will feature librarian Lucas Berns as he offers attendees a brief introduction to the popular “Rough Guide” CD series. Friends Of Bettendorf Library Add New Wednesday Hours

The operating hours of the book shop run by the Friends of the Bettendorf Public Library have been increased by adding Wednesday hours 12:00-4:00.  The book shop, located in the previous coffee shop area, will be open Monday through Wednesday 12:00-4:00 and Saturday 11:00-3:00 beginning September 7.  Several thousand books are on sale, most for $1 each, with pocket books, chapter books and teen books for $0.50 and children’s books for $0.25.  Stock is regularly rotated with no books on display more than two months.  All proceeds from the shop are used to support library programs. Rock Island Public Libraries Closed for Thanksgiving Holidays

All Rock Island Public Libraries will be closed Thursday, November 26 and Friday, November 27 for the Thanksgiving holidays. All locations are open from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm (noon) on Saturday, November 28. Online services and book-drops are open during the holiday break. RIPL remains open for Grab and Go, Curbside, and Online services in compliance with Tier 3 mitigations in the Restore Illinois Plan. Only quick browsing, material checkout, returns, and limited-time public computer/WiFi reservations are allowed.
