Creative And Quirky Artworks Pop At Taste Buds

The imaginative, quirky and vibrantly eclectic artworks of Sara Holtz are sprouting on the walls at Taste Buds, 150 16 ½ St., Rock Island, through April 27. Holtz utilizes a wide array of found objects and different textures in her mixed media art, including metalware, fabrics, stones, plastics and even ground spices. Jackson Leary is certainly celebrating his ninth birthday in a unique way. The third grader is having his first solo art exhibit as the latest Taste of Q-C Art at Taste Buds, 1629 2nd Ave., Rock Island (in the District, across from Bennigans). Jackson is the son of QuadCities.com digital media director Sean Leary and the co-host of Eventures with Sean and Jackson, a podcast on QuadCities.com. On Saturday, February 25 at 1:00 pm Quad City Arts will sponsor a Regional Poetry Out Loud Contest at Annawan High School. Students from Annawan, Cambridge, and Wethersfield High Schools will be competing to advance to the State Contest in March.
