The imaginative, quirky and vibrantly eclectic artworks of Sara Holtz are sprouting on the walls at Taste Buds, 150 16 ½ St., Rock Island, through April 27. Holtz utilizes a wide array of found objects and different textures in her mixed media art, including metalware, fabrics, stones, plastics and even ground spices. She has had her artworks exhibited at Star Dog and Bucktown and this is her first solo exhibit. Holtz Debuting New Artworks At Taste Buds

Sara Holtz brings a fun, whimsical quality to her multi-media paintings and that buoyant spirit will fit in perfectly with the light, happy environment for her first solo gallery showing as the latest Taste of Q-C Art creator at Taste Buds, 1629 2nd Ave., Rock Island (in the District, across from Bennigans). In the back of a newspaper a couple of weeks ago I came across a call to entry. The Bucktown gallery was looking for submissions for a show called Revive2 that had to include something recycled. I have never had art in a gallery show before, but since this was my preferred medium I had a couple of pieces already, so I thought I would submit them and hope for the best.
