Genesis FoodPlex Receives Donation Of $10,000 From Bix 7

The Genesis FoodPlex was this year’s Quad City Times Bix 7 charity. Food is Medicine and this donation of $10,000 will help support food-insecure individuals and their families with access to healthy foods.  The Quad-City Times is proud to give back to the community. Michelle Juehring, Quad-City Times Bix 7 Race Director, second from right, presents the Genesis Health Services Foundation with a check for $10,000. The money will help fund Genesis FoodPlex. WQPT was honored on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at the Mid-America Emmy Awards, taking home a prestigious Emmy for their locally written and produced historical documentary, Snapshots: Your Dutch Friend. This documentary tells the story of how two young sisters, Juanita and Betty Wagner of Danville, Iowa became pen pals with Anne Frank and her sister Margo, just as Amsterdam was occupied by Nazi Germany on May 10, 1940. The Western Illinois University School of Music will present a Faculty Recital featuring baritone Nicholas Miguel and pianist Jeffrey Brown at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5 in the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) Recital Hall. Nicholas Miguel, an assistant professor of Voice, and Jeffery Brown, the director of the School of Music and a professor of Piano, will be performing Robert Schumann’s most famous song cycle “Dichterliebe,” a beloved classic in German Lieder.
