In the light of the pandemic and civil unrest, six local actresses have banded together to try and bring some much needed relief to the crippled theater community and gain momentum for the change our world needs. Chelsea Ward and Victoria House, through an agreement with the production staff of the Broadway run of ‘Six’* and, a partnership with the Black Box Theater** have assembled a rock star cast for a one night only, virtual performance of the smash new musical! The show currently will be streamed live on Facebook on August 1st, 2020 with a virtual donation jar for both the Black Box Theater, and organization “Initiatives of Change, USA” ***. Additional opportunities for viewing and donating are pending Illinois’ Phase 4 success.

Six Local Actresses Bring New Hit Musical To The Quad-CitiesSix the musical is a concert performed by the hit new girl group “Six”, who all have one thing in common…their ex, Henry the 8th. Each of the Queens competes for the right to be the leader of the group by singing their hit solo telling their story. Who ever had the worst time with good ole’ Henry, wins. Like other musicals of our time, Six takes history and puts it to a ‘hipper’ beat and is known for casting aside preconceived notions of what these six women looked like. The actresses involved, not only saw this show’s message as a positive step forward for Theater to achieve a more diverse attitude towards casting, as well as address a variety of issues faced by women daily. Your Quad Cities Queens are:

Catherine of Aragon: Chelsea Ward

Anne Boleyn: Victoria ‘Tori’ House

Jane Seymour: Alaina Pascarella

Anna of Cleves: Amari Harris

Katherine Howard: Sydney Heller

Catherine Parr: Stevee Baker

Music Director: Randy Moore

It is hoped that this project will grow and gain more sponsors and partners as the rehearsal process continues. Follow on Facebook for more information on streaming and sponsorship!

From Tudor Queens to Pop Princesses, the six wives of Henry VIII take to the mic to tell their tales, remixing five hundred years of historical heartbreak into a 75-minute celebration of 21st century girl power. These Queens may have green sleeves, but their lipstick is rebellious red.

Lora Adams of the Black Box Theater said, “The Black Box Theatre is happy to be able to help during this extraordinary time for this truly unique event. It is our hope that through our participation and our mission of inclusivity will resonate with our audience.”
