The Office of Human Resources at Western Illinois University has made some changes to improve efficiencies and to better serve the WIU community. Human Resources are now located in Sherman Hall 105 and Sherman Hall 103 (former transfer admissions office), with testing now located in Sherman 103 (from the basement area). Pritzker’s Executive Order, which was recently extended and outlines testing requirements for unvaccinated employees and students who are physically on WIU’s campuses. Due to continued negotiations between the State of Illinois and the SHIELD Illinois testing program, WIU will change its testing methods until further notice. Cara Cerullo, a counselor in the Western Illinois University Counseling Center, has been named interim director of the center, effective July 1. Amy Buwick, who has served as director since 2018, retired in May after nearly 29 years of service at WIU. A national search will be held at a later date. Brian Thomas, assistant director of Campus Recreation at Western Illinois University, has been named interim director of Campus Recreation, effective June 4. Nick Knowles accepted a job off campus. Thomas was hired as the assistant director in January 2018, and was promoted to associate director in January 2021.
