The Office of Human Resources at Western Illinois University has made some changes to improve efficiencies and to better serve the WIU community. Human Resources are now located in Sherman Hall 105 and Sherman Hall 103 (former transfer admissions office), with testing now located in Sherman 103 (from the basement area). In addition, Human Resources is moving to a talent acquisition and talent development model of operations. MACOMB/MOLINE, IL — The University continues to follow Gov. Pritzker’s Executive Order, which was recently extended and outlines testing requirements for unvaccinated employees and students who are physically on WIU’s campuses. Due to continued negotiations between the State of Illinois and the SHIELD Illinois testing program, WIU will change its testing methods until further notice. The Western Illinois University Department of Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration is accepting students into its updated Postbaccalaureate Certificate in Event Planning and Management program for Fall 2022. The program has been redesigned to meet the scheduling needs of busy practitioners and adult learners interested in expanding their knowledge of events. Western Illinois University IT Manager Kevin Markham has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for June 2022. Markham began working at WIU in 2001 as a Digital Computer Operator II in Administrative Information Management Systems (AIMS) and resigned in March 2004. Cara Cerullo, a counselor in the Western Illinois University Counseling Center, has been named interim director of the center, effective July 1. Amy Buwick, who has served as director since 2018, retired in May after nearly 29 years of service at WIU. A national search will be held at a later date. Brian Thomas Named Interim Director of Campus Recreation at Western Illinois University

Brian Thomas, assistant director of Campus Recreation at Western Illinois University, has been named interim director of Campus Recreation, effective June 4. Nick Knowles accepted a job off campus. Thomas was hired as the assistant director in January 2018, and was promoted to associate director in January 2021.
