Circa ’21’s Hilarious ‘Play That Goes Wrong’ Gets All The Laughs Right

Circa '21's Hilarious 'Play That Goes Wrong' Gets All The Laughs Right

Circa ’21’s latest show, “The Play That Goes Wrong,” gets one huge thing right: It hits all the comedic notes to make it a hilarious show. These types of silly, goofy, farces are exactly what we need right now, in my opinion. The last two years have sucked, let’s face it, and things aren’t exactly looking fantastic on the horizon either. What we need more than ever is levity and distraction, and Circa’s “Play That Goes Wrong” is the epitome of both. The show is pretty much explained in its title. It’s a murder mystery show where anything... Read More

Circa ’21 Includes “Beauty and the Beast,” “White Christmas” and “Disaster!” in 45th Season

The past 17 months have kind of been a disaster around the world. In the land of Quad-Cities musical theater, “Disaster!” will continue into 2022, as both Quad City Music Guild and Circa ’21 Dinner Playhouse plan to stage a ‘70s-themed jukebox musical comedy of that name within three months of each other. In early July, the Moline community theater announced that “Disaster!” would kick off its 2022 season in April, and on Monday, the professional Rock Island dinner theater announced that the silly show would run there July 20-Sept. 10, 2022. Earthquakes, tidal waves, infernos and... Read More

Rock Island's Circa '21 Dinner Theater Postpones 'Play That Goes Wrong' Until 2022

As this distressing year comes to a welcome end, Circa ’21 has, after much discussion, made the very difficult decision to postpone its forthcoming comedy, THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG, until January 2022. “With the explosion of Covid – 19 cases in the last few weeks, and our Governor reverting back to the restrictions of Stage 3, coupled with the huge post-Thanksgiving surge anticipated in the next 2 weeks, and the post- Christmas increase, it was abundantly clear we had to postpone the show.” said Circa ’21 Producer, Denny Hitchcock.  “Our main concern, as always... Read More

Circa ’21 in Rock Island To Close Again Until January

With the closure of indoor dining throughout the state, by Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, Circa ’21 Dinner Playhouse has made the difficult decision to close its doors for the holiday season. The Rock Island theater’s planned productions of “Winter Wonderland” and “Seussical” will be moved to the end of the 2021 season instead. Circa has, however, received special permission from Springfield to remain open until this Saturday to finish the current run of “The Savannah Sipping Society.” “This was a terribly difficult decision,” Brett Hitchcock, director of audience development,... Read More
