Rock Island National Cemetery to commemorate Veterans Day

The Rock Island National Cemetery will have a Veterans Day Ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 11, at 1 p.m., at Rock Island National Cemetery, at Committal Shelter #2. The Cemetery is undergoing various expansion and upgrade projects throughout the Cemetery; the public is asked to please excuse any messes.  The keynote speaker will be Lt. Gen. Antonio A. Aguto Jr., commanding general, First Army.  The ceremony will include a wreath placement as well as an honor salute and taps.  Masks will not be required since the ceremony will be outdoors, but masks will be available for those that wish to wear... Read More

Mohan will lead U.S. Army Sustainment Command For Rock Island Arsenal

Maj. Gen. Christopher O. Mohan will take command of the U.S. Army Sustainment Command at a ceremony that will be held at Rock Island Arsenal on June 15. ASC Headquarters is located on Rock Island Arsenal, and the commanding general of ASC is designated as RIA’s senior mission commander. Mohan replaces Maj. Gen. Daniel G. Mitchell, who retired from the Army last month. Matthew Sannito, a civilian member of the Senior Executive Service, has served as ASC’s executive director in the interim. RIA Credit Union to Hold Ribbon-Cutting at New Bettendorf BettPlex Location

The R.I.A. Federal Credit Union will hold a ribbon-cutting for its BettPlex location at 3 p.m. February 11, 2021, at 4880 Forest Grove Dr., Bettendorf. This location originally opened in July 2020 and has been in operation since then. The credit union had wanted to celebrate the opening of this state-of-the-art facility last year with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, but at that time, the COVID-19 pandemic has reached a stage where such an event was not advised.
