ROCK ISLAND — In the coming weeks, twelve area hospitals are set to receive a combined $20,000 from the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 25 and the Mechanical Contractors Association of Eastern Iowa/Western Illinois (MCA). Through their Labor-Management Cooperative Committee (LMCC), both Local Union 25 and the MCA work to preserve and expand job opportunities in the Quad Cities region and explore innovative approaches for the advancement of the industry as a whole. Local Union 25 Apprentice Wins Volunteer of the Year Award

A strong sense of altruism and a desire to help his community has driven Sean Counihan throughout his life, and it’s led to him receiving the 2019 Volunteer of the Year Award from Local Union 25 Plumbers and Pipefitters. Counihan will be honored for his community efforts in putting on multiple career fairs and outreach programs to help recruit students into the skilled trades during the Local 25 Awards Banquet in February. Local Union 25 Holding Bags Tournament For Veterans

You won’t want to be left holding the bag, you’ll want to give it a toss, as Local Union 25 holds its third annual Veteran’s Bags Tournament Saturday. Doors open at noon and the tournament starts at 1 at the union headquarters, 4600 46th Ave., Rock Island.
