Trimble Pointe in Moline Highlights Variety of Art

As a center in the Quad-Cities for comfort during grief, and celebration of life, Trimble Pointe is using art to reflect both. The nearly six-year-old facility at 701 12th St., Moline, recently commissioned Detroit artist Marcus Glenn to create three mixed-media hearts which are now on permanent display in the entrance atrium of Trimble Pointe, as a colorful sign of support for the community, especially healthcare workers and first responders during the Covid-19 pandemic. New Cambridge Art Gallery a Light After Much Darkness

After so many shutdowns, economic devastation, and death caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, there’s something new and life-affirming opening in the Quad-Cities art scene. The Excelsior Studio and Galleria – owned by self-employed artist Melody Sloat, and her husband Jacob – will open Friday in a former antique shop at 13013 N. 700th Ave. (Route 19), in Cambridge, Ill., 40 minutes southeast of Moline. The couple bought the historic building, and did much clearing, repairs and renovations in preparation to open. Quad City Arts Debuts Exhibit By Ken Urban And Margaret Ertz

Quad City Arts’ online exhibit through June 19, 2020, will be photography by Ken Urban of Durant, IA and paintings by Margaret Ertz, of Burlington, IA. Ken Urban’s photographs tell a story. Art In The Garden Blooming In August At Quad City Botanical Center

Art in the Garden will bloom Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 9 AM – 4 PM at Quad City Botanical Center, 2525 4th Ave., Rock Island. Local and regional artists including jewelers, photographers, painters, woodworkers, fabric artists, and others who are inspired by nature to create, will exhibit and sell their art pieces at this outdoor show. Have A Spicy Fat Tuesday With Figge Cajun Cook Off At Rhythm City Casino

Kick off Mardi Gras right here in the Quad Cities, with the Eighth annual Cajun Cook-Off to benefit the Figge Art Museum! Midcoast Fine Arts and Bucktown in downtown Davenport have got two great new exhibits adorning the walls over the next month. The art of Jane Doty and Amber Williams runs through March 28 at Bucktown. Amber Williams has worked in collage since childhood and refocused on the medium in 2010. “I deconstruct materials by color, pattern, shape, etc. to create new images.” Her new collages expand the kinds of materials and processes she incorporates, including underlying collages, chips of paint, feathers and polyacrylic phototransfers. You can experience the beauty of Eden at Rock Island’s Rozz Tox. Eden is the third photography exhibition at Rozz-Tox for Quad City photographer Laura Heath. Having successes with her last two shows she will be showing her third show once again at Rozz-Tox. Eden has assisted her artistic progression to become more focused on improving her composition and lighting.  Named Eden to signify the idea that nudity need not be hidden away. PaperFest Cutting Into Quad-Cities Next Weekend

PaperFest, a new visual arts event in the Quad Cities, will include art demos and family-friendly hands-on art activities, all with paper. Activities planned are paper book folding, foam core sculpture, origami, collage and paper making. Bucktown Is Back!

Bucktown is back.   The art gallery is reopening today after being closed for over two months due to the Flood of 2019. Sunrise Galleries East in the Bucktown Center for the Arts is reinstalling paintings and photography after having the business closed since April 30th when a Hesco barrier broke flooding Downtown Davenport. Gallery owners Jane Doty and Jim Elias will be in their business today from 10:00am to 3:00pm hanging art they removed during the flood.
