Join the Davenport Civil Rights Commission and the Davenport Public Library for a screening of the film “Riding the Rails to Hero Street” on Wednesday, September 21 at 6:30pm at the Davenport Public Library Branch on Fairmount Street. The film details the lives of Mexican American families that lived in Cook’s Point, Holy City, and on Hero Street. Let’s gather to make sure history is not forgotten and to honor the lives and legacies of the people who lived in these settlements. Many in the Quad-Cities today are mourning the death Saturday night of Joe Terronez, 91, a former longtime leader of Silvis and passionate advocate of the area’s Hispanic heritage. “He showed us that change does not come willingly, that we have to persevere to right some of the injustices in this world,” Tar Macias, publisher of Hola America News, posted on Facebook Sunday morning. “Thank you Mr. Terronez for your leadership, your strong spirit and I am most grateful for your kindness to me all these years. In time for Veterans Day, the Moline Public Library will showcase Fourth Wall Films’ two new documentaries Riding the Rails to Hero Street and A Bridge Too Far from Hero Street during an virtual screening event on Tuesday, Nov, 10 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Producers Kelly and Tammy Rundle will take part in an online Q&A following the films. Fourth Wall, Putnam Present “A Bridge Too Far from Hero Street” Online July 4th Weekend

Eight months after its stirring premiere at the Putnam Museum Giant Screen Theater in Davenport, “A Bridge Too Far From Hero Street” – a new film that tells the true story of one local soldier’s involvement in the largest air assault in history – will be shown in two free online screenings over the July 4th weekend. Moline-based Fourth Wall Films and the Putnam Museum will screen the documentary at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 5, followed by a Q&A with filmmakers Kelly and Tammy Rundle.
