Circa ‘21’s latest show, “Disaster!,” is far from a disaster, as its name would imply. It’s controlled chaos, a rampaging beast of strangeness and random oddity packed with laughs and inspired goofiness. “Disaster!” is a truly unusual show in that it parodies a film subgenre from almost 50 years ago. Due to several more positive Covid cases in the Cast of DISASTER this morning, Circa ‘21 has made the difficult decision to cancel the next week of performances (07/27-07/31). With the number of artists that they would be forced to replace for ten days, the staff does not feel that they are capable of presenting the outstanding product that our guests have come to expect from Circa ’21. The past 17 months have kind of been a disaster around the world. In the land of Quad-Cities musical theater, “Disaster!” will continue into 2022, as both Quad City Music Guild and Circa ’21 Dinner Playhouse plan to stage a ‘70s-themed jukebox musical comedy of that name within three months of each other.
