WQPT Airing 'My Brother's Gift' Holocaust-Themed Production

In September 2022, The Black Box Theatre performed “My Brother’s Gift,” as a part of the Out of Darkness: Holocaust Messages for Today initiative. The play is based on the remarkable true story of Heinz Geiringer, neighbor and friend of Anne Frank. The production will air on WQPT on November 17 at 8:00 pm and will be followed by a short documentary on the Anne Frank Exhibit in Danville, Iowa. Heinz, a trained musician at only 15, was forced to live in hiding and silence in Nazi occupied Amsterdam. Creeping in this weekend at Blackbox Theatre in Moline is the psychological thriller “Murder in Green Meadows” by Douglas Post. The original production received six Emmy Award nominations when presented on TV with the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago. It’s been called one of the best musicals of the 21st century for its honest exploration of mental illness and pain. It’s “Next to Normal,” and it’s coming to the Blackbox, 1623 5th Ave., Moline. The story centers on Diana Goodman, a wife and mother who struggles with bipolar disorder and the effect it has on her family.
