Marc Polite In As New Basketball Coach At Rock Island High School

On May 11, 2021, the Rock Island-Milan School District Board of Education approved the hire of Marc Polite to be the boys’ head basketball coach at Rock Island High School. The hire comes after former head coach Thom Sigel announced his retirement early this year. Coach Polite is a familiar face in the Quad Cities and has 20 years of coaching at the NCAA Division 1, Division 2, junior College, and high school levels. BREAKING NEWS: Nearly a year after the 2020 Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Women’s Basketball Tournament had to be canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, hope springs eternal. On Thursday, Visit Quad Cities and the MVC announced that the 2021 Missouri Valley Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament will return to the TaxSlayer Center in Moline, for the sixth straight year. School spirit filled United Township High School last night. The excitement and pride must have been felt for miles in neighborhoods surrounding the recently updated building. Western Big 6 rivals, United Township High School and Moline High School, played their last conference game for the 2019-2020 season in a packed Panther Den last night. This week LeBron announced that he’s donating millions of dollars to help send kids around his native Ohio to a special school, the I Promise School in Akron, he’s creating that will be free, will give them free uniforms, free breakfast lunch and snacks, free books, free transportation, and if they graduate, free tuition to University of Akron.
