Sportz Helping With HumorOn Sunday June 4th at The Establishment in Rock Island, laughs from a comedy show will turn into dollars for an area homeless shelter.   Beginning at 6 PM the longest running show in the Quad Cities, ComedySportz, will feature two teams of improv comedians competing against each other for points and laughs. All ticket sales will be donated to the Humility of Mary Shelter. The show is rated E for Everyone, and the community is encouraged to come contribute to a much needed service in our area.

“This has become an annual event for us and we couldn’t be more excited to share some laughs and raise awareness for the work we are doing” says Christie Adamson, Director of Services at Humility of Mary Shelter, Inc.

Humility of Mary Shelter, Inc. is a non-profit organization that relies on community support to operate a spectrum of services designed to help people move from homelessness into housing as quickly as possible. Their programming includes a large emergency shelter, specific Veteran programming, and a street outreach team. Their goal is to make emotional, mental and physical stability a reality for adults experiencing homelessness.  “Improv and comedy is who we are.  We are in our element making people feel better and laughing, we are just creating that element as we go,” said fourteen year ComedySportz player George “Big G” Schulz, “we are thrilled to share what we do and help out our community.”

The night will feature a special performance by magician David Casas.  “David has been a superb partner of The Establishment for the last five years.  He has a mastery of his craft and is exemplary in donating his talent to the Quad City area whenever possible. Helping With Humor keeps growing, it’s fun, and it’s important to help to help Humility of Mary Shelter to provide necessary services to the betterment of our home towns.” said ComedySportz owner Patrick Adamson
