Illinois Congressman Sorensen: I Will Fight for Your Right to Access Safe And Legal Abortion
In recognition of the 50th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade, Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) took to the House floor to speak out against the Supreme Court’s decision to rip away the fundamental right to safe and legal abortion.
“Receiving an abortion is a deeply personal decision that should be left up to a woman, her family, and her doctor,” said Sorensen. “Simply put, Uncle Sam has no place in your doctor’s office. To the women in my district and across the nation – I will not stop fighting for a world where your basic rights and freedoms are protected.”
As one of his first actions as a member of Congress, Sorensen signed onto legislation which condemns all forms of political violence and attacks on health care facilities, including ones that provide reproductive health care services, and personnel.
