With covid numbers spiking in Illinois, one state college has asked community members to make changes to help prevent the spread of the virus.

As another semester comes to a close, Western Illinois University encourages all University community members to continue to follow CDC and campus guidance to assist in the mitigation of the COVID-19 virus.

University Testing Clinics
The University Testing Clinics, located in the basement of the University Union Student Organization Center (SOC) at the Macomb campus and the Riverfront Reception Desk on the Quad Cities campus, will continue to operate next week from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19.

For the Spring 2023 semester, the University will end operation of the testing clinics and switch to a new format for individuals needing COVID-19 testing. Beginning Tuesday, January 17, 2023, COVID-19, test kits may be picked up at the following locations during hours of operation?

Quad Cities Campus
Riverfront Hall Reception Desk

Individuals who test positive with COVID-19 should complete the WIU COVID-19 Self Reporting Form.

Return to Campus
Before returning to campus, all members of the campus community are encouraged to administer a COVID-19 test, available at a variety of retail locations or via https://www.covidtests.gov/.

Individuals who test positive with COVID-19 using an at-home or off-campus test should complete the WIU COVID-19 Self Reporting Form.

Proof of Vaccine Card Upload
Students are encouraged to continue reporting their COVID-19 vaccination records to the Beu Health Center Patient Portal.

Faculty and staff are no longer being asked to provide their COVID-19 vaccination records.

Cleaning Materials
Facilities Management will continue to offer cleaning supplies to classroom, office and common areas of campus. Building representatives in each area will also receive a small quantity of wipes to distribute with the option to request more through work order request. Sanitizer stations will remain stocked throughout campus.

Face Covering Distribution
Designated sites throughout campus will continue to have extra face coverings to provide to those who forget one or have a malfunctioning mask. Supplies will be limited in these locations, so individuals should make every effort to have their face coverings with them. To view locations, visit bit.ly/facecoverlocation.

Plastic Shields
Campus departments and areas now have the option to remove the plastic shield barriers. Building representatives should make requests through the Facilities Management Work Order system for proper removal. Individuals should not attempt to remove on their own.
