Quad Cities Community Foundation Give Out $629,000 in New Grants
Thirty-six local nonprofits are receiving $629,000 through the Quad Cities Community Foundation’s Operations and Program Grants.
The Operations and Program Grants are made possible by generous donations to Field of Interest Funds as well as the Quad Cities Community Impact Fund. The grants make up the Community Foundation’s largest competitive grantmaking cycle each year, according to a Monday release.
“The nonprofit sector in the Quad Cities is vibrant and forward-thinking,” Sue Hafkemeyer, Community Foundation president and CEO, said in the release. “Sustaining that energy requires reliable operational support. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, local nonprofits can continue their important work, strengthening our communities and improving quality of life for everyone.”

Providing general operating funding and program support for successful ongoing efforts, awards cover a variety of focus areas, from basic needs and health to community development and arts and culture. Operations and Program Grants range in size from $5,000 to $20,000, with $40,000 available for two-year requests.
“Nonprofits play a role in nearly every aspect of our community,” said Kelly Thompson, vice president of Grantmaking and Community Initiatives at the Community Foundation. “From housing and health to education, recreation, and the arts, these organizations put people and empowerment at the center of everything they do. Their work makes our region stronger, more connected, and more resilient.”

Grants are made available thanks to the generosity of donors in the region through endowment gifts that support communities in the Quad Cities area including, Basic Human Needs Fund, Basic Human Needs Fund – Iowa, Child Abuse Prevention Endowment Fund, Children at Risk Endowment, Chip Sunderbruch Memorial Risk Management Endowment, CommunityWorks Endowment, Creative Arts and Culture Fund – Iowa, Dorothy Jane Folwell Education and Health Care Fund, Health and Wellness Fund, John J. Quail Foundation Fund, Judith Berger Endowment, Marsha and Don Pedersen Endowment, Nell C. Brennan Fund, Raymond J. and Michael T. Ball-Trevor Endowment Fund, Reproductive Rights Health Fund, Roy E. Murray Foundation Fund, Sekharan Family Fund, The Amy Helpenstell Foundation Fund, and Women’s Endowment.
The Foundation, which formed in 1964, has grown in assets since 2014 from $112 million to $182.6 million.
