IowaWORKS, 1801A East Kimberly Road, Davenport, will showcase it’s new Youth Resource Room while hosting a young adult job fair on Tuesday, April 19 from 4 to 6 pm.

The Youth Resource Room offers a gathering space for young adults from ages 14 to 24 to get assistance with their homework, resumes and job search.  The quiet environment also allows the students or job seekers to access the online workshops IowaWORKS offers.

“The open area offers resources to students that may not have them at home,” said Robert Hummel, Career Navigator — Title 1.  “We invite youth to use it for homework, job seeking, a social environment, and to speak with our youth career navigators.  The hope is to offer not only resources, but the support from staff to help these young adults succeed.”

The room features a comfy couch, a social gathering table, computer stations, printers, a copier, whiteboard, television and a conference table.

IowaWORKS provides daily services to the general public that include resume building, job seeking assistance, computer access, workshops to prepare job seekers for employment, connections to community resources, assistance with navigating unemployment insurance and more.  The job center is open daily from 8 am until 4:30 pm  (Wednesday opens at 9 am).
