Edison Junior High Chess Team Competes At Illinois Tournament

Edison’s Chess Team competed in the IESA State Chess Tournament this past weekend! They competed in 8 matches each on Friday and Saturday. Some of these students had never played Chess until this year when they joined the Chess Club – a part of the 21st CCLC Lights On For Learning Programs at Edison. They competed against 53 schools and came in the top half at 22!! Congratulations to Connor Schultz, Ywa Pweh, Brandi Lee, Mykal Holliday, Chris Pedroza, Colby Howser, Adonius Harmon, Anthony Moa, Joseph Tavernier, Ryan Hearn and Bri Schrempf. DCSD ProStart students recently attended the 2024 Iowa ProStart Invitational to compete against other schools across Iowa. They took home second place in the Iowa 2024 ProStart Invitational Culinary Team and in Management, and the cake decorating team did beautiful work! Rock Island High School Students Granted Money Through Entrepreneur Pitch Competition

Rock Island High School INCubadatoredu students have been busy! Last Thursday RIHS team The Swaver was the opening act of Fortress Bank’s 2nd annual Bank Tank Entrepreneur pitch competition. The team represented represented the district very well. Swaver is a product you put in your toilet tank that reduces the amount of water flushed, thereby saving both water and money. Did you know? 80% of learning during the first twelve years of a kid’s life is visual. That’s why these students at Jefferson Elementary were smiling extra big on Wednesday! Thanks to the generous support of #UnitedWayQC donors, our Vision to Learn initiative held another glasses party to give 115 students two pairs of glasses at no charge. That brings us to a whopping 283 QC students who have received 566 pairs of glasses since October!
