Flu-Free Quad Cities Offers Family Friendly Flu Vaccination Clinics

The Genesis Flu-Free Quad Cities program will offer four family vaccination clinics providing protection against seasonal influenza beginning Oct. 12. The first clinic will be held Tuesday, Oct. 12 from 3-6 p.m. at the TaxSlayer Center in Moline. The other family clinic dates will be Wednesday, Oct. 13 at Brady Street Stadium, Davenport, from 3-6 p.m.; Tuesday, Oct. 26 at TaxSlayer Center, Moline, from 3-6 p.m.; and, Wednesday, Oct. 27 from 3-6 p.m. at Brady Street Stadium, Davenport. Illinois Schoolchildren Ages 5-11 Getting Covid-19 Vaccine, How Soon Will It Be Approved?

A greater portion of people in Scott County have been fully vaccinated than Rock Island County -- 58% compared to 50%.

Illinois schoolchildren ages 5-11 could be able to get the covid vaccine before the end of the year if the vaccine is approved as expected, according to reports. Pfizer and its German partner BioNtech have made a formal request to the Food and Drug Administration to extend emergency use of their COVID-19 vaccine in children ages 5 to 11. The two-dose vaccine is already authorized for children aged 12 to 15 and fully approved for ages 16 and up. The outbreak of COVID-19 and the preventive measures recommended to slow spread of the virus had at least one unexpected result. Seasonal influenza cases disappeared in the United States. The Genesis Flu-Free Quad Cities effort will be back this fall to hopefully continue the steep decrease of flu diagnoses in the region. Genesis Flu-Free Quad Cities provides free seasonal influenza vaccinations in elementary schools throughout the region.
