Join the Figge Art Museum virtually this Thursday Sep 10 from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. for a Virtual Artist Talk with Cara Romero. Cara Romero is a member of the Chemehuevi Indian Tribe. Romero will discuss her photographic practice and the use of technology in her recent work. Guests will be invited to ask questions at the conclusion of the talk. Living Proof Cancer Survivor Art Exhibit To Open at Figge on Sept. 26

The Figge Art Museum will welcome back Living Proof Exhibit, a nonprofit organization that provides the therapeutic benefits of the arts to people impacted by cancer, for its annual exhibition of cancer survivor art. Because of an elevator outage at the museum, the opening of the exhibit has been pushed back to Saturday, Sept. 26, from Sept. 10. MACOMB, IL — In a typical summer, Western Illinois University’s (WIU) Office of Study Abroad and Outreach (SAO) hosts an average 10 summer camps, programs in which youth in grades 4 and up spend a week on campus. During their week on campus, University faculty and staff give students a snapshot of what their degree programs and departments have to offer. Quad City Arts Cancels First “Run For the Roses” Derby Party

After the 146th running of The Kentucky Derby was moved from the first Saturday in May to this Saturday, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Quad City Arts has made the difficult decision to cancel its first “Run for the Roses” Derby fundraiser at Crow Valley Golf Club in Davenport. The regional nonprofit group planned to offer live jazz, signature cocktails, wine, and beer, raffles, live auction, gourmet food and prizes for best hat and bow tie, in addition to watching the Triple Crown horse race. Fontana is in southern California, over 1,800 miles from the Quad-Cities, but that didn’t stop Yuji Baba, a graphic designer and illustrator there, from using The Force (and his amazing talent) to win the Quad City Arts Chalk Art Fest.
