Racer’s Edge Rocks Music, Karaoke And Fun!

Racer’s Edge Rocks Music, Karaoke And Fun!

East Moline is the home of the Racer’s Edge. This is a bar that I have been going to for awesome music and great service since I was 21 years old. The best thing about this bar is that they have a lot of space and tables complete with chairs to host just about any event that you might need space for. This includes, but is not limited to, events like wedding receptions, birthdays, bachelor and bachelorette parties. They have a checkered dance floor complete with a killer lighting system. Their stage is cool as well and bands can rock your socks off without having to worry about someone tripping... Read More

Karaoke And Costumes On Tap This Weekend At The Railhouse

“A long, long time ago, I can still remember how that music used to make me smile. And I knew if I had my chance, that I could make those people dance and maybe they’d be happy for a while.”-American Pie by Don Mclean Ever since I was a small child, and I mean SMALL, I have been singing. I remember being a 10 year old little girl sitting around a campfire singing to a bunch of adults to the tune of my uncle’s guitar. I sang everything from The Eagles to Queen. I had zero problem hitting all the notes on the scale when I was that age. Now I am older and I sing more like Bob... Read More

Chili Three Ways Is Cool And Hot Comedy

Since I began reviewing the shows at the Establishment Theater, 220 19th St., Rock Island, I have laughed harder than I have laughed all year long. I love this place and I hope you all give it a looksee one of these weekends. You can catch PG rated Comedy Sportz starting at 7 p.m. and stick around for the R rated aftershow of the evening. The improvisational comedy never fails to impress the crowd as audience involvement is key to these shows. The actors are all very gifted with communication and have unstoppable wits about them. This weekend’s late night show is Chili Three ways, and the last... Read More

Skellington Manor’s Haunted ‘Asylum’ Is Hellishly Fun

Skellington Manor’s Haunted ‘Asylum’ Is Hellishly Fun

The parking lot was packed and the streets were lined with cars. Spooky places spook me. Skellington Manor in Rock Island has their Asylum this year and it is a terrifying place to be this time of year. Even standing in line for The Asylum haunt can be scary!  Upon entry, one can feel the vibes of Halloween running madly through the air. They handed me an old address stamp card made of metal and sent me into the parlor. I remember thinking to myself, “This is alright.” Then some crazy sound shot off from behind me and scared me half to death! At that point, I just said a prayer for... Read More

‘Buried Child’ Is A Shocking Dramatic Thriller

QC Theatre Workshop at 1730 Wilkes Avenue, Davenport, IA is home to some of the most brilliant actors in the Quad Cities. The set, always perfect for the compelling scripts chosen for their cozy stage and the people are kind and welcoming. This local theatre brings you into the story, no matter what story. They are incredibly real and their skills at shutting out the audience is incredible. Every play at this theatre is like being inside of the book itself. It is just amazing theatre and deeply satisfying. I had known ahead of time that their latest, “Buried Child,” would be a soul wrenching... Read More

Speakeasy’s ‘Rocky’ Is A Rocking Great Time!

October 13th, 2016
Nicholas Munson, Don Abbott, Dion Stover, Vince Solis, Sara Tubbs, Becca Meumann-Johnson

I would like, if I may, to tell you of the play that is taking place in the District of Rock Island just a couple of doors down from Circa 21’s popular main theatre in their Speakeasy.  It is much smaller but not any less fun. There is a charming stage with a deep red curtain and bar equipped with nachos and plenty to drink, including a charming list of drinks named especially for the occasion. The event that night, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I ordered a Time warp and a prop bag for myself and my daughter. She came dressed as the spitting image of Magenta and everyone was staring at... Read More

Megadeth Breathes Fire And Life Into I Wireless Center

Megadeth Breathes Fire And Life Into I Wireless Center

The monsters of the music industry have been entertaining the Quad-Cities in that building called the IWireless Center in Moline, since long before I moved here 22 years ago. Some of these bands are popular for a time and some of them have an epic feel. Some of these nights, one knows they are in the presence of greatness. Last Friday night was one of those moments for me and a stadium packed completely full of metal heads. It was an AWESOME crowd, my friends. Rock and Metal band t-shirts, beautiful women with black lipstick on, mohawks and the occasional nerd (me, I wore pink.) made up an amazing... Read More

Establishment Stands Up Quite Well

Establishment Stands Up Quite Well

Stand up comedy can be found every last Saturday of every month right here in our District of Rock Island at the Establishment theatre, home of your local Comedy Sportz show. September 2015 gave us the comedy stylings of the very Irish Colin Ryan, hilarious local comedian Dan Deibert, and of course the introductory and in between jokes from our Establishment’s own beloved Jeff Adamson. Now first of all, the theatre was PACKED! Jeff opened up with a few funny tidbits and introduced Ryan, who was fully ready to alleviate any concerns about his lucky charms. For the record, he has no lucky charms,... Read More
