Moline’s Sound Conservatory Owner to Give Farewell Concert June 22
A special farewell concert is scheduled for Sound Conservatory, 504 17th St., Moline, on Sunday, June 22 at 5:30 p.m.
The heartfelt evening of music, memories, and new beginnings is called “Andrzej & Friends” — the final performance by Andrzej Kozlowski as owner of the Sound Conservatory, which will not be closing but continuing under new ownership.
The passionate pianist, composer and teacher is planning to embark on an exciting new chapter in Europe, reigniting his performance career and launching a new journey into film composition, according to an email invitation to the event.
This special evening will feature collaborative performances with close friends (Alex Gilson, Rob Miller, Joan Temmerman and Nathan Windt), highlighting some of Kozlowski’s most cherished works along with selections of his own compositions. The program will culminate in the world premiere of his newest creation:
“A powerful, cinematic work for piano quintet that gives voice to those who have been forced to leave their homes and navigate the emotional toll of displacement,” the event description says. “Through vivid musical storytelling, the piece captures the pain, longing, and resilience of individuals caught in the struggle to find safety, dignity, and belonging.”

Andrzej Kozlowski is a native of Poland who specializes in the piano music of Chopin.
Whether you’ve studied with Kozlowski, performed alongside him, or simply been moved by his music, this concert is your chance to celebrate his impact and wish him well on his journey ahead.
The music school, store, and performance venue in downtown Moline opened in November 2023 in the 1903 former Carnegie library. It had previously been in two locations in downtown Rock Island, starting in March 2022.
Now serving more than 370 students each week, the business is committed to creating an environment where music educators can thrive professionally, earning a respectable income in an institution that deeply values their exceptional talents and the years of dedication it took to refine them into world-class educators, according to Sound Conservatory.

Sound Conservatory has focused many of its concerts on Quad Cities-based, and young musicians.
Over the years, the business expanded its services to include instrument repair, rentals, and a full retail store, all while hosting live music events. The long vacant former Moline library welcomed its first performance events in August 2024, after the old two-story stacks area was renovated to an elegant venue topped by a huge chandelier.
“Throughout our journey, we’ve proudly served a diverse array of clients, from budding musicians to seasoned professionals,” the Sound Conservatory website says. “We’ve built strong, lasting relationships with local schools, community organizations, and music enthusiasts who share our passion for the transformative power of music.”

The June 22 concert will feature (L-R) Andrzej Kozlowski, Nathan Windt, Joan Temmerman, Alex Gilson, and Rob Miller.
Kozlowski (who has worked in contracting, and also does piano repair, restoration and moving) is a 40-year-old native of Gdansk, Poland. He and his family moved to the U.S. in 1992. He went on to continue his music studies at the C.W. Post campus of Long Island University in music education, and then at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City. Kozlowski lived in Denver and Tucson, Ariz., before moving to Rock Island in July 2021.
He chose Rock Island because of its rich history, and similarity to Long Island, N.Y., where he was from. To hear him play, including original compositions, visit www.akozlowski.com/music.
