Major League Baseball Returns To “Field of Dreams”, Deere Partners With League
For the first time since 2022, a Major League Baseball game will be played in Iowa, with MLB at Field of Dreams is returning to Dyersville, Iowa, with a Thursday, Aug. 13, matchup between the Phillies and Twins at the refurbished site.
“Major League Baseball is excited to return to Iowa in 2026 and to deliver a unique experience to the Twins, the Phillies, their players, our two Minor League teams, and fans across the game,” MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement from MLB. “We look forward to working with Netflix and creating an event that all sports fans can enjoy.”
The event will be shown on Netflix, a central piece of the new partnership between MLB and the popular streaming service. In addition to the Major League game, the site will also host a game between Triple-A St. Paul and Iowa, Minor League affiliates of the Twins and Cubs, respectively, on Aug. 11.

This year’s game is a Twins home game (over four hours from Minneapolis, and an hour and a half from Davenport), the opener of a three-game series between the clubs. The teams will have an off-day on Friday before resuming the series at Target Field on Saturday.
“The Minnesota Twins are thrilled to be playing in the return of MLB at Field of Dreams,” Twins executive chair Joe Pohlad said in an MLB release. “Taking the field in Dyersville, where so much of baseball’s magic comes alive, is special for our club and for our fans in Iowa. August 13, 2026, will be a true celebration of our sport and a memorable day in Twins history.”

The first Field of Dreams game took place in 2021, between the White Sox and Yankees, and the Reds and Cubs met at the site in 2022. Over the intervening time, the beloved movie site has undergone a renovation and expansion, and this will be the first MLB game at the new-look facility.
In 2022, The Quad Cities River Bandits and Cedar Rapids Kernels played an Aug. 9 game at the now-iconic ballpark next to the historic “Field of Dreams” movie site in Dyersville.
In a throwback to a bygone era of sports, the hosting River Bandits played as the Davenport Blue Sox (their name during 1913-1916, 1929-1933 and 1934-1937) against the Kernels as the Cedar Rapids Bunnies (their name from 1904-1932), for the ‘MiLB at Field of Dreams‘ Game.

This year is also the first of a new partnership between Moline-based John Deere and Major League Baseball.
As America celebrates its 250th anniversary, John Deere is celebrating by becoming the “Official Tractor” of MLB, a new multi-year sponsorship.
“For nearly two centuries, John Deere has stood alongside the hard-working, dedicated people who care for the land and who build our communities,” Jon Chase, John Deere’s head of turf and utility equipment, said in a spring press release. “Now, through our partnership with Major League Baseball, we’re able to celebrate America’s favorite pastime, America’s favorite teams, America’s favorite players, and the people who show up every day to build and grow America.”
Throughout the 2026 season, this partnership will come to life through storytelling, advertising, and on-the-ground experiences rooted in places that matter to Deere customers. That includes moments like the MLB at Field of Dreams game in Dyersville, Iowa, where baseball tradition and agricultural heritage meet in the heart of John Deere country. It also includes MLB All-Star Week in Philadelphia, where the spotlight turns to the people and places that keep the game moving.
“John Deere represents the individuals who shape our communities where baseball is played every day and we’re proud that we can celebrate the people who keep America moving forward,” said Uzma Rawn Dowler, MLB Chief Marketing Officer & Senior Vice President, Global Corporate Partnerships.
John Deere and MLB are positioning this collaboration around three key ideas:
- Preparation that happens before game day
- Pride in maintaining fields and green spaces
- Performance that supports players, fans, and communities
Together, the brands are emphasizing that the game is built long before it is played. As part of the agreement, John Deere holds several official designations within Major League Baseball:
- Official Partner of MLB
- Official Tractor of MLB
- Official Lawn Mower of MLB
- Official Lawn Equipment Provider
These roles reinforce Deere’s connection to turf management and field maintenance at every level of the game.
