10th Annual Craig Curless Memorial Chicken Fry Happens This Friday!Craig Curless tragically passed in 2009. He was a graduate of United Township High School class of 2006. Craig had been serving his apprenticeship with the Iron Workers Local 111, Rock Island, IL. In 2006, Craig was the Western Big 6 pole vault champion. He always liked to soar high and had no fear. That is why he loved being an iron worker. He lived each day to the fullest. His friends were always at his side, starting another crazy project. Craig brought joy to each person he met with his contagious smile and his soft-hearted personality. He cared so much for his family and friends.

Doug Curless, Craig’s big brother, shares the deep meaning of this annual event, “The Craig Curless Memorial Chicken Fry started 10 years ago when our family was blindsided by suicided. Our mission has been to get people to talk about the epidemic in hopes that another family was saved from dealing with the hurt we faced. We do this to encourage others to talk about suicide through remembering the loved ones that we have lost.”

One of Craig’s favorite songs was ‘Chicken Fried’ by Zac Brown Band, before he passed. His family decided to commemorate his life by holding this Chicken Fry to not only remember the life of an amazing young man lost too soon, but to help others in need.

It’s funny how it’s the little things in life that mean the most. Not where you live, what you drive or the price tag on your clothes. There’s no dollar sign on a piece of mind this I’ve come to know. So if you agree have a drink with me at the 2019 Craig Curless Memorial Chicken Fry this Friday night!
