WQPT, WIU Looking For Artists For Campus Art Show

WQPT – PBS for the Quad Cities Region and Western Illinois University – Quad Cities’ Student Services encourages all Quad Citizens to submit images of art, photos, and designs for possible display in the 5th Annual Campus Art Show.  A limited number of works will be selected by a panel of judges, but the deadline for entry is Wednesday, March 18, 2020. The show will run from April 1st through April 30th 2019 in the WIU-QC Library. WQPT Roaring Up Patriot Derby Challenge At Western Illinois University Saturday

WQPT, PBS for the Quad Cities Region and the QC VET Center will host the 3rd Annual Patriot Derby Challenge on Saturday, February 15th at Western Illinois University – Quad Cities Campus (3300 River Drive, Moline). This unique pinewood derby race allows military veterans to race their service-themed pinewood derby cars against cars that scouts have built in a friendly competition that encourages interaction between the men and women who have served our country, and children who have benefited from their service. In April 2013 Mary Pruess was named General Manager of WQPT, Quad Cities PBS. During her tenure WQPT moved offices, restructured master control and programming and continued with a focus on the creation of local television programming, to be aired along with PBS programming. WQPT invites you to tune in to the Golden Apple Awards 2019 for Excellence in Teaching & Leadership on June 23rd at 7:00 pm and June 29 at 3:30 pm honoring 10 extraordinary teachers from the State of Illinois. This is the first year that the awards will feature award-winners from all over the state including United Township history teacher, Heather Monson. The ceremony took place on May 18 in Chicago, Illinois at the WTTW studios. “WQPT was honored to tape the local segment featuring Ms. Monson,” said WQPT producer Lora Adams.
