Western Illinois University Student Honors Association Hosting Women's Media Drive

In honor of Women’s History Month, the Western Illinois University Student Honors Association (SHA) will host a Women’s Media Drive. This drive will be oriented toward popular media that is created by women, for women, or engages with ideas of womanhood. Content from queer women, women of color and other under-represented women is encouraged. Possible donations include books, movies, music, artwork, etc. Items can be new or secondhand. Western Illinois University will host a faculty panel discussion to provide historical, geopolitical and religious context for the ongoing situation in Ukraine from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 24 in the University Union’s Sandburg Theater. MACOMB/MOLINE, IL – Western Illinois University Construction Project Coordinator Derek Willey has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for February 2022. Willey was hired for his current position in October 2020. Western Illinois University Computer Science Faculty Hold Cybersecurity Training & Competition

Western Illinois University’s School of Computer Science hosted the 2022 LeatherHack training and cybersecurity competition in February. A selection committee chose 11 students out of 58 applicants to participate in the competition, based on their experience and interest in cybersecurity. Computer Science faculty conducted training sessions in a Cybersecurity lab. Six of the participants advanced into the finals and competed as two teams, Team Kali and Team Phoenix. The Geodeland Earth Science Clubs, Inc. (GESCI) will host its 41st annual Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, March 12, and from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, March 13 in the Western Illinois University Union Grand Ballroom. The School of Music at Western Illinois University, will present its 35th annual New Music Festival 2022 Monday-Tuesday, March 7-8. The events that make up the festival will be held in Browne Hall and in the College of Fine Arts and Communication Recital Hall.
